Phase I Successes –
√ 12 Think Tanks - Sponsored by ASRAP and the State Health
Officer, individuals from diverse backgrounds were brought
together for focused discussions on access to healthcare
issues.
√ Escambia County Resource Directory - Creation of a bilingual
resource of community services for residents of Escambia
County.
√ Community Health Toolbox - Development of learning resources
for community development.
√ Minority Rural Health Pipeline Program - 10 students
successfully completed the 2001 program.
√ Health College Connection - Thirty-six students completed the
2001 program.
√ Community Focus Workshops - Workshops were held in two
rural Alabama communities to discuss strategies for retaining

√ Community Health Coordinator - An individual was hired to
assist Perry County residents in accessing existing
healthcare and other resources.
√ Delta States Rural Network Development Grant - ASRAP helped
facilitate a grant to bring Delta Network Initiative monies to
Alabama.
√ 21st Century Challenge Fund Grants - Alabama has four projects
being funded through this initiative.
