Health Status of Rural Alabamians provides dynamic, easily comprehended, critical information about the health of Alabamians residing in rural areas. It delineates an array of health status
differences between Rural North and Rural South counties relative to the state’s Metropolitan
Statistical Area (MSA) Alabama counties, paired with relevant statewide and national information.
The information should foster awareness of specific concerns, trigger development of intervention
strategies, and facilitate maximum utilization of available resources. The Alabama Rural Health
Association will also utilize the study’s results in refining its strategic plan.
