2002 Alabama Rural Health Association's Awards Luncheon

The first recognition through the presentation of service awards by the Alabama Rural Health Association occurred at a luncheon held for this purpose at the Farmers Market Cafe in Montgomery on March 29, 2002.

 

Neil Christopher, M.D. of Guntersville was presented with the Rural Health Provider Exceptional Achievement Award and Florence Henderson of Tuskegee was presented with the Rural Volunteer Excellence in Service Award.  These outstanding Alabamians are the first recipients of these prestigious awards.

 

Donald E. Williamson, M.D., Alabama's State Health Officer, presented the awards to both recipients.  Thomas Terndrup, M.D., Chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine and Director of the Center for Disaster Preparedness at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine spoke on issues pertinent to critical care in rural Alabama.  The luncheon was well attended.
