Agee (Rucker and Margaret) Fund
The following information should be included in each grant request to the Rucker & Margaret Agee Fund:
A. Name, address, and short summary of the purpose of the tax-exempt
organization which will be the recipient of the grant or funds. Include
number of years tax-exempt organization has been in existence.
B. The names of the Board of Directors or the Trustees responsible for
the management of the requesting organization.
C. Position or relationship to the applicant organization of the individual
signing the grant request.
D. The amount requested, and a complete and succinct summary of the project
or purpose for which grant is requested, limited to no more than five pages
(8 1/2 x 11, legible size type). Address what grant is expected to accomplish;
number of persons expected to be served by grant; length of time for which
foundation aid will be needed; and number of staff employed by tax-exempt
organization. Include budget for organization, or project. Budget, list of
Board of Directors, and 501(c)(3) letter requested below may be in addition
to 5-page summary describing grant request.
E. Whether aid is being sought on this project or request from other founda-
tions or sources; if so, the names of these sources and the amounts requeted
from each. (This is for informational purposes only and should not be inter-
preted to mean that the Agee Fund discourages aid from other sources; in
fact it encourages participation of other donors).
F. A copy of the organization’s most recent letter of exemption from the
Internal Revenue Service demonstrating that it is an organization
exempt from Federal Income Tax under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal
Revenue Code.
The Rucker & Margaret Agee Fund is a private foundation established in 1961 by Mr. & Mrs. Rucker Agee. The foundation concentrates its grant efforts in the Birmingham, Alabama vicinity and has made awards in the areas of arts and culture, education, environment, health, human services, religion, and public/society benefit.
An original grant request and two (2) copies should be submitted by November 15 of each year to the following address listed below: Grants for the current year will be awarded by December 31.

Kaul (Hugh) Foundation

The Hugh Kaul Foundation is a private foundation established in 1989 by Mr. Hugh Kaul. A native of Birmingham, Mr. Kaul was a leader in the timber industry in Alabama, a State Representative and a founder, Director and President of the Alabama Forestry Council. Mr. Kaul committed his time and assets to many area nonprofits during his life and desired that assets from his foundation be used to address needs in Jefferson, Coosa and Clay Counties, Alabama. The foundation has made awards in the areas of arts and culture, education, environment, health, human services, and public/society benefit.
The foundation meets twice a year in the spring and fall to review proposals. Application is made to the foundation in writing. An original and eleven copies of a proposal must be submitted using only 8 ½ x 11 – inch paper printed on both sides, without binders, notebooks, or folders. The proposals must include the following:
A ONE-PAGE COVER LETTER, ADDRESSED TO THE HUGH KAUL FOUNDATION, SIGNED BY YOUR DIRECTOR AND BOARD CHAIR, TO INCLUDE:
Name, address, phone and fax numbers of your organization.
Name and title of the contact person if other than the director.
Amount of funds requested.
A concise summary of your project using no more than one paragraph.
2. THE FULL PROPOSAL. IN NO MORE THAN FOUR PAGES, PROVIDE THE FOLLOWING:
A. YOUR AGENCY’S BACKGROUND
· Its history including major programs or accomplishments.
· Any links with similar organizations.
B. THE PROJECT OR PROGRAM YOU PROPOSE
· The need or issue you will address.
· The total cost of the project or program and the amount you are requesting.
· Your goals and objectives.
· The activities that will be carried out to accomplish the objectives.
· The qualifications of key personnel.
· Any other organizations involved in your project or providing similar services.
PROJECT CONTINUATION
· If the project is ongoing, your plans to continue after the funding period.
· Future funding sources.
· Your criteria for effectiveness.
· The methods you will use to analyze your results (measure your progress).
· Who will assess the results.
3. FINANCIAL INFORMATION
· A line item income and expense budget for the project, including in-kind and cash support.
· A list of other foundations or sources to which you have submitted this proposal. Please indicate whether funds
have been committed, declined or are pending.
· Your organization’s current annual operating budget and an income and expense statement for your last fiscal year.
Both should include sources of support as well as expenses.
4. ADDITIONAL MATERIAL
A list of your current Board of Directors including the primary professional and/or civic affiliation of each member.
Names titles and telephone numbers of three professionals familiar with the work of your organization.
Your organization’s tax exempt letter from the IRS (include with original application only).
Should we need additional informational or want to schedule a visit to your facility, our grants research consultant will contact you to make arrangements. During this same period, please advise us should circumstances arise that change or affect any aspect of your request.
All organizations making application with the Kaul Foundation are encouraged, but not required, to join the NonProfit Resource Center of Alabama located in Birmingham.

The Robert R. Meyer Foundation is a private foundation established in 1949 by Mr. Robert R. Meyer and further funded by bequests from the wills of Robert R. Meyer and John Meyer. Mr. Meyer desired that assets from his foundation be used to address needs in Birmingham and its vicinity. The foundation has made awards in the areas of arts and culture, education, environment, health, human services, and public/society benefit.
The foundation meets twice a year in the spring and fall to review proposals. Application is made to the foundation in writing. An original and six copies of a proposal must be submitted using only 8 ½ x 11 – inch paper printed on one side only, without binders, notebooks, or folders. The proposals must include the following:
1. A ONE-PAGE COVER LETTER, ADDRESSED TO THE ROBERT R. MEYER FOUNDATION, SIGNED BY
YOUR DIRECTOR AND BOARD CHAIR, TO INCLUDE:
· Name, address, phone and fax numbers of your organization.
· Name and title of the contact person if other than the director.
· Amount of funds requested.
· A succint summary of your project using no more than one paragraph.
2. THE FULL PROPOSAL. IN NO MORE THAN FOUR PAGES, PROVIDE THE FOLLOWING:
A. YOUR AGENCY’S BACKGROUND
· Its history including major programs or accomplishments.
· Any links with similar organizations.
B. THE PROJECT OR PROGRAM YOU PROPOSE
· The need or issue you will address.
· The total cost of the project or program and the amount you are requesting.
· Your goals and objectives.
· The activities that will be carried out to accomplish the objectives.
· The qualifications of key personnel.
· Any other organizations involved in your project or providing similar services.
C. PROJECT CONTINUATION
· If the project is ongoing, your plans to continue after the funding period.
· Future funding sources.
· Your criteria for effectiveness.
· The methods you will use to analyze your results (measure your progress).
· Who will assess the results.
3. FINANCIAL INFORMATION
· A line item income and expense budget for the project, including in-kind and cash support.
· A list of other foundations or sources to which you have submitted this proposal. Please indicate
whether funds have been committed, declined or are pending.
· Your organization’s current annual operating budget and an income and expense statement for
your last fiscal year. Both should include sources of support as well as expenses.
4. ADDITIONAL MATERIAL
· A list of your current Board of Directors including the primary professional and/or civic affiliation of
each member.
· Names titles and telephone numbers of three professionals familiar with the work of your
organization.
· Your organization’s tax exempt letter from the IRS.
Should we need additional informational or want to schedule a visit to your facility, our grants research consultant will contact you to make arrangements. During this same period, please advise us should circumstances arise that change or affect any aspect of your request.
